Jos Musil sent us photos of building his Viking Knarr in 1/72 scale.
Jos sent us also his comments:
The knarr 1:72 was a pleasure to build. I have made other, bigger, models but with this little one: it was a challenge to make small parts and details look as good as possible.
I changed some elements in the rigging, partly for practical reasons, but mostly for the looks of it, I hope that I did not make too much historical faults.
Some ballast was added (the Ottar, a Skuldelev replica, carried 17000 kg stones).
Poor chap (the little white one) had to carry all aboard. Perhaps I will make a bigger crew in the scale of the little white one, never done that, so that will be an other kind of sport.
Next model will be the Hanse Kogge from Daniël Dusek. I am looking forward to that and already made a visit to the Kamper Kogge to get the “Kogge feeling”.
Kind regards from Jos Musil (Amstelveen, Holland).
